I should say something about Lex.
I'm not very good at putting down how I'm feeling in words. I don't have a gift for it like some of my other friends, and I've always felt that trying to find something as complex as emotions into something as simple as language lessens it somewhat, and I don't want that. I would far rather just feel what I'm feeling and not try to quantify or explain it.
The last thing I want, however, is for people to think that Lex's death hasn't affected me, that I'm not upset by it, or that I don't care. So I should say something.
She was my friend, and I miss her.

|05:08 pm - A small dilema, and other things|
Suprisingly I'm still at work at the moment. I say "at work" but I guess I don't really mean than since I've been working from home today. Not sure where I stand on the whole idea. Yes, it makes far more conveniet for me it terms of getting to and from the doctors for my blood test, but I wouldn't exactly say I've put in the full 100% the office expects. Hence the reason why I'm a) still working at gone 5pm and b) writing a livejournal entry when I should be reading citations.
The application I'm working on at the moment was submitted by JLA, if you're interested you can look it up, Patent No. GB 2414743. It's for a washing machine.
So, anyway, Fallout 3 is being released at the end of the month, and in an unsual move it's a game I intend to purchase for myself (rather than wiating for my birthday or christmas). The fist dilema was "what format?". PC seems like it would probably be the better choice, but since there's the whole issue of how my dual core processor relates spec wise to the higher minimum requirement listed on the box, I decided to opt for the safer option of the 360 version. It'll work and look nice enough while working.
The second option is how to go about getting it. The way I see it there's three options. The first is to just rock up on the 31st to Game (other game stores are available - I have to add this sort of disclaimer because technically I'm The Man at the moment) or where-ever, pick a copy off the self and proceed in an orderly manner to the till. The second is to order a copy online, say via Play.com (other websites are available). Or preorder a copy from one of the many games stores.
Each of these methods is frought with liability. Going full retail sort of relies on the game not being sold out, which is a possibility given how popular the game is. Going online at least garentees I'll get the game eventually, but there's no way to tell how long eventually is. Since I know several of my friends and the guy I share my office with at work will be buying the game on release if I don't get into it ASAP, I may as well just listen to them tell me about it. The third option would probably be the best if I could trust the staff at a games store not to cock it up. The one person who I trust to get it right is never there at a convenient time i.e. at the same time as me.
Going to have to think about that some more. Meanwhile I'm going to make some dinner and then go back to work untill people show up for gaming tonight.

At work today I journeyed to the end of the internet, and searched the invisible web to find news of what really happened on 11/09/01.
And that was just training.

1) If anything were to happen to Tom Brady the Patriots season would effectively be over.
2) Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden and I have the same birthday.
Makes you think, doesn't it.

Well, I managed to get through a day of work without electrocuting myself, which is a good thing, since on the whole it was a shit day and accidental electrocution could well have pushed me over the edge into some sort of Falling Down style meltdown.
While exploring the world beyond the top of Allensbank Road at the weekend I was reintroduced to the Real Men of Genius ad campaign Budweiser ran. Digging around YouTube I found it's actually been running a lot longer than I thought. There's over 80! So under the cut are three of my favorites, and the one that started my little search.
The first one's just for you uzu_uzu.

The thing I have in common with Bobby Brown, Elton Jon, Madonna and Micheal Strahan is that we all have Diastema, or as it's more commonally know, having a gap between our two front teeth. Technically it's having a gap between any of your teeth, but it's most common between the two front teeth which is the case with all of us. Having a tooth fall out doesn't count. Sorry, Amy Winehouse.
Something in my office is causing me to generate large amounts of static electricity. I electrocuted myself three times today. Twice on the door handle to my office, and once on my phone.

(See what I did there, jaxvor?)
2 time defensive player of the year, holder of the NFL single season sack record, gap toothed gypsy and most importantly (from my point of view at least) New York Giant, Micheal Strahan has retired from the NFL. Although I think the team has enough depth at the position to cover for the loss, it's a bit of a shame for the Giants as he brought a lot in terms of experience to the team. Still, part of me is hoping that we can trade Shockey to the Saints and use that pick to get Jason Taylor. Strahan, quit through the media, which if you ask me, is a bit of a dick move, and seemingly out of character for him.

One of the examiners at work is looking to take some kind of walking holiday up in Snowdonia, and is looking for reccomendation on where they could stay. I figured that there's a few outdoorsy type on my friends list that might be able to toss out a few good ideas.
The place needs to accomodate 6 people, so my examiner friend was thinking some sort of holiday cottage, although they're more interested in getting to see the "nice areas". The word pretty may have been bandied about also, but I'd sort of tuned out by that point.
So any ideas?
